Position Overview:
The Library and Information Science > Records Management > Data Governance Analyst is responsible for ensuring effective management of data assets, compliance with data governance policies and procedures, and the development and implementation of records management strategies within the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of library and information science principles, records management best practices, and data governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and maintain data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of organizational data.
2. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define data governance objectives, priorities, and strategies.
3. Conduct data quality assessments, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions to enhance data integrity and reliability.
4. Manage the lifecycle of organizational records, including creation, classification, retention, and disposal, in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
5. Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on records management best practices, data governance policies, and procedures.
6. Monitor and evaluate data governance initiatives to ensure compliance and effectiveness, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
7. Collaborate with IT teams to implement data governance tools, technologies, and systems to support effective management of data assets.
8. Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, regulations, and industry standards related to data governance and records management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science or a related field. Master's degree is preferred.
2. Strong knowledge of library and information science principles, records management fundamentals, and data governance frameworks.
3. Proven experience in developing and implementing data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
4. Excellent understanding of data quality management principles and practices, including data profiling, cleansing, and reconciliation.
5. Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to data governance and records management (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 15489).
6. Proficient in utilizing data governance tools, technologies, and systems, such as data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and identify data quality issues.
8. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate data governance concepts and requirements to diverse stakeholders.
9. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and a demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.
10. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
11. Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
